With over five hundred years of history, and as home to the first Earl of Shaftesbury, St Giles House is a spectacular display of English heritage, opulence and timeless beauty. However, following the events of the Second World War, St Giles House fell into disrepair and was listed on the English Heritage “Buildings at Risk” register. Since 2010, our dedication to bringing this stunning house back to life has created a beautifully inspiring location where all can reflect and appreciate it’s fascinating splendour.

Our love for sharing this stunning house and its history with the public has seen us open its doors to host conferences, workshops, music events and country house weddings. We aim to create unforgettable experiences, all within a stunning location, and can offer our couples an array of ceremony options that suit their particular requirements, such as the following:

  • Grand and Inspiring House
  • Timeless and Natural Park
  • Spiritual and Traditional Wedding
  • Intimate and Romantic Shell Grotto

At St Giles House, we’re licensed to hold civil ceremonies and have an array of options to suit you and your requirements.

Our house, which hosts a maximum of 120 guests, is surrounded by cosy fireplaces and old master paintings to create a truly dramatic atmosphere. This option allows you to marry in our principal rooms, which offer an unforgettable setting steeped in fascinating history. Our talented team can assist to tailor our house to your taste and individual requirements, making this the perfect option for all.

Should you be seeking a natural, yet utterly timeless location, our park is the obvious choice. Perfect for a more relaxed and bohemian spring or summer wedding, our park provides a vast and stunning background that will create an array of truly spectacular memories and photographs. All couples choosing this option are required to sign the register indoors. However, the rest of your ceremony can take place at this stunning outdoor location, which offers unlimited guest numbers.

If you’re looking for a more traditional and spiritual location, our church can be host to 120 guests and is the perfect option. Wimborne St Giles Church, which is located next door to our house, has been restored by gothic revival architect Sir Ninian Comper and offers dignified grace and style.

If you’re looking for a ceremony with a difference, or have a nautical theme, our grotto is the ideal option. Built in the 18th century, our grotto forms a section of the Pleasure Grounds and is comprised of shells brought back from the Caribbean. Hosting 20 guests, this romantic location creates a truly intimate atmosphere.
